Typography Junkies Use Whims!
Are you using the Whims app yet?
It’s the latest social media craze. Sort of like Instagram for words.
“Whims is sort of like a classy meme generator, or a social network for casual typography junkies. It’s an iPhone app that turns a short message—about the length of a tweet—into a fancily laid-out, T-shirt-ready slogan.”

Facebook: You Don’t Like Me Anymore….

Once upon a time, people went on Facebook to find friends, stay connected and share information. New research published in the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media says folks are login in for different reasons these days.

Apparently, we just want to be entertained; the novelty of Facebook friendships has worn off.

“Using previous literature on the motives for online activity, the researchers asked participants to rate how strongly they identified with five reasons for going on Facebook: interpersonal utility, passing time, information seeking, entertainment and self-expression. While all of the motives influence one another — most people go on Facebook for numerous reasons at the same time — entertainment and passing time stood out as largest drivers, with self-expression being an important motive too, the researchers said.”

If you’re in the business of community management or marketing, you had better take this insightful research to heart if you want your followers to ‘like’ what you put out. Time to get busy with creative memes for sharing – for instance the rainbow Oreo cookie meme – brilliant creative BTW. As well as entertaining but short videos featuring any sort of cute creature, are good places to start.

Today companies might not be building Facebook empires, but more likely playgrounds for their fans.

Is making fun of Pinterest the new Pinterest?!?!
Personally, I love Pinterest! I love pinning beautiful art, clever ideas, cool infographics, cute animal photos…but I also enjoy the ugly side of Pinterest. The dumb craft ideas, bad manicures, and stupid memes for instance. I’m not alone here - - check out this ridiculous time wasting blog www.wtfpinterest.com that pokes fun at the ugly side of pin obsession.
WTF Pinterest takes the bad and celebrates it - - this site showcases some of the very awful pins out there with witty and ironic comments. For those of us on Pinterest who don’t want to openly mock others’ taste, here’s a safe place to revel in making fun.
Enjoy!
